About SEFF

What is SEFF?

The Student Experimental Film Festival (SEFF) is an annual, student-run festival founded at Binghamton University that celebrates experimental filmmaking from emerging student filmmakers. SEFF highlights experimentation, creativity, and student work.

Theme

The theme this year is Dwellings.
SEFF focuses on experimental, student-made works that challenge the conventional cinematic experience, so our filmmakers are open to interpret the prompt as they see fit and submit a film of their choice: When you hear the word dwelling, is there a time or place that sticks out to you as memorable? One that feels unforgettable, or runs through your mind? Are you haunted by one thought or feeling? Whether it be dwelling on the past or daydreaming about the future, you may find yourself stuck reliving your happiest days or your hardest nights.

Who We Are

SEFF is organized by Binghamton University students with support from faculty and community partners. Curation prioritizes bold formal invention, strong point-of-view, and works that rethink the relationship between medium and meaning.
